My name is Skye, and I am 21 years old. My star sign is Libra and I have been a barista for 6 years. I love hooping and yoga, as well as meditation and walking on the beach with my 5 year old maltese X shihztu – Bella.
I decided to start a blog to share some of my thoughts, views, recipes, and life lessons with the world. I love writing and I love telling stories, so I thought it might be a beneficial hobby to take up. Now, on we go to the life story of Skye.
I grew up in a tiny little town in the South East of Australia. I loved the learning aspect of school, however I struggled excessively with the social side of things. I got bullied quite badly starting around year 7. The worst mistake I ever made was to allow the name calling and taunting to tear me apart. After a while, everything about me changed. I became severely depressed. I wore black, and only black. I started self harming. I was miserable, day in, and day out. When I turned 10, my parents divorced and I received more mockery at school.
In 2010, I decided to apply for scholarships in the hope of being able to go to a different school, and in 2011 I moved to Adelaide to live with my dad and attended Annesley College. I made some incredible friends and formed a bond with a girl that I could not imagine my life without. However, we were both struggling with different mental illnesses and self harm. We fed off of each others misery and even though I loved this girl more than I imagined I could love a friend, the friendship did have a detrimental effect on each of us. One thing I can certainly thank her for, though, is for being the inspiration for me to take the step to become vegetarian. At the end of 2011, Annesley College closed down and I was forced to move back to the town in which I grew up in to complete high school. The only relief I had was with a pen in my hand and a piece of paper in front of my. My English teacher at school was a huge support to me and I can honestly say I would not have made it through school without her.
Fast forward a couple of years and I finally graduated high school and got to leave the stresses behind. I wont spend much time on the small things, but I moved from town to town around the South East for a while before finally taking the step to move back to Adelaide.
I have now been living in Adelaide for going on three years. When I first made the move, I lived with a co-worker and her girlfriend. Her girlfriend is whom inspired me to take the next step from vegetarian to vegan. I have been vegan now for 2 years, and as of recently, I have started eating mostly raw or Raw Till 4. It has certainly been a long and interesting road full of lessons learned.
This blog will be full of all of the things I love including my favourite vegan recipes, my beliefs and views, and many other aspects of my life. I hope you enjoy reading my thoughts.
